As a lifestyle hospitality innovator, we embrace the mandate to provide exceptional service, operate sustainably for the environment, along with dedicating ourselves to inspiring change to all those who cross our threshold. We have a responsibility to help strengthen our local communities as well as create access and opportunity. We’re bringing new ideas, partners and actions into our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion journey to live up to our purpose. Arlo Cares speaks to more than our community of employees and partners, it’s our commitment to our values and the actions we’re taking. When it comes to embracing diversity within our communities, enhancing the environments we create, and elevating the service we provide, there’s more work to be done. We hold ourselves responsible to fulfill a commitment to serve as a home base for the eco-conscious and diverse community both inside & outside of the Arlo family.
Embrace Your DNA
Every piece of what makes our employees uniquely them is also a piece in the mosaic that is the Arlo family. We encourage our employees to embrace their DNA – their individuality, originality and authenticity in all its forms. Passion, purpose and curiosity thrive when we respect each other’s differences. The result? A place where guests receive amazing customer service, feel a part of the extended Arlo family and witness the respect we carry for each other and all those who cross our threshold— equally and without discrimination of any kind.
When we empower each other as individuals, we also come together to make a difference beyond our hotels. We step up for our guests and for our neighbors, because we have a responsibility to help strengthen our local communities and create access and opportunity. Whether it’s the work we do with Henry Street Settlement serving our elderly neighbors, launching internship programs and participating in youth services, or our efforts with New York Cares through school revitalization programs, we want to be a part of keeping the pulse of our cities beating. We carry our Arlo DNA into the community.
Within and outside of Arlo, we strive for excellence, we serve with compassion and we aim to create happiness. Because thoughtfulness matters. We believe that success is measured by the smiles we create and the acts of kindness we deliver – if all those who touch the Arlo brand don’t walk away with a sense of comfort, value and delight, then we haven’t done our job and we haven’t lived up to our purpose.
Find Your Rhythm
Creating the Arlo experience is achieved through balance. We know it’s easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle, but we can only be our best selves when we take the time for our individual journeys, lean into our global curiosity and feed our desire to impact our communities. We’re here to help you find your rhythm, and provide the resources needed to press pause and refuel your spirit.
Think Forward and Grow
Have you ever heard the saying “Opportunity is knocking”? Well here at Arlo we empower you to open that door! We encourage you to THINK FORWARD and Grow; be empowered to bring forth ideas that challenge each of us to be better at what we do, how we serve and the progress we make for all those around us. With this mindset anything is possible.
About Henry Street Settlement
Arlo has partnered with the Henry Street Settlement for 5 years now to create opportunity for Lower East Side residents and other New Yorkers through social services, arts, and healthcare programs.
Serving Our Seniors
This is a monthly program where Arlo team members help coordinate and facilitate dinner gatherings for seniors in the community. It’s been a fun way for our team to engage, play bingo with them and provide a great evening for a cause.
This is a quarterly program where Arlo would provide students of Henry Street internships at our hotels. This program consisted of an 8-week learning period where the students would work in Front Office and Housekeeping to gain skills within the hospitality industry. There have been hires from this program and we look forward to teaching and grooming more students in the coming years!
Annual HR & Resume Reviews
This is a program where Arlo Hotel’s People Services attend sessions to review resumes with job searchers and talk about how to prepare for an interview in the hospitality industry. We also offer advice about the industry in general.
About New York Cares
New York Cares is a nonprofit organization focused on volunteer management and was founded in 1987 by a group of New Yorkers who wanted to take action against social issues in New York City. The organization currently engages 65,000 volunteers in service each year.
New York Cares for Schools
This is an annual volunteer program where Arlo was allocated to a school within the community to refurbish for the day. Arlo has gratefully been a part of this program for four years and have been hands-on to clean up old music rooms, refresh painted hallways, exterior walls, and fences.
For the past 3 years, Arlo has participated in this annual drive in which donations of winter coats are collected for those in need during the cold winter months. The drive is roughly 2 weeks long, and each of our New York City hotel properties happily band together to collect as many coats as possible. Once donations are collected they are dropped off to New York Cares.
Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion
“Through our partnership, we were pleased to discover that Team Arlo leads the hospitality industry through diverse representation across their workforce. Our role is to ensure what they have built internally, as marked by their core values, is conveyed externally through inclusive guest relations and a focused social equity response.”

Covid Response Initiatives:
The Harold’s team partnered with Frontline Foods, a charity supporting frontline workers during the pandemic. Together Harold’s and Frontline Foods served over 2000 meals to those fighting for the lives of others.
As explorers, we appreciate the beauty of travel and global ecosystems. Our team carefully curates events, festivals and ocean clean-ups that give back to charitable partners working tirelessly to keep our world clean.
We’ve devoted a portion of all restaurant menus to plant-based options, catering to health-conscious travelers while also reducing our direct impact on carbon emissions, water use and waste byproducts produced by the animal-based foods industry. Our culinary teams flex their expertise and creativity in delivering savory, hearty plant-based dishes that help keep our world a greener place.
Green PARLOur Series:
